Androgen hormone which is found in both men as well as women is the cause for hair loss but on the other hand estrogen is a friend of hair. Deficiency of estrogen which may be either at the time of menopause period or pre-menopause period has direct impact on the hair of the females. Estrogen treatment can be in the form of oral estrogen tablets or birth control pills. Oral contraceptives pills contain estrogen hormone which stimulates and extends the growth phase of the hair follicles.

This is the reason why pregnant women are having strong and healthy hair.
