Why Is Tagamet Used In Treating Female Hair Loss?

The hair loss treatment in which tagamet or cimetidine is used is known as anti-androgen treatment. Tagamet when taken in large doses then it can act as anti-androgen. Tagamet are not prescribed for men because they result in development of feminizing features in men and affects sexual functions in male.

Tagamet is used in female especially for causing successful facial hair growth. Tagamet has also proved its capability in treating androgenic alopecia. Androgenic alopecia is a form of hair loss seen in female where the hair of the female becomes thinner over a period of time. Rarely is it seen that women suffer from total baldness due to androgenic alopecia. Tagamet will help the hair to become strong and healthy thereby relieving the female from the problem of thin hair. There are certain side effects reported due to tagamet intake and some of them are headache, diarrhea, dizziness and drowsiness.

Tagamet treatment should be used only after doctor’s prescription and should be given to the children unless prescribed by the doctor. Women can also suffer loss of hair due to thyroid condition, digestive problems or due to hormonal changes. So when these conditions are treated properly female can experience growth of hair.
