What are the Symptoms of Alopecia?

The most identifiable symptom of Alopecia is sudden hair loss. In this disease, the hair on the scalp most commonly falls out in small and round patches measuring one quarter. Among a few people, this disorder may manifest in form of slight bare patches, whereas in few, this condition can cause absolute loss of hair on the scalp. In severe cases, it can lead to the complete loss of hair on the hairy regions of the body, especially, face and head. This means that in uncommon cases, people experience unusual loss of hair on the eyebrows, eyelashes, armpits and legs.  This makes the person more susceptible to environmental irritants, germs, dust and other foreign particles invading into the nose, ears and eyes.

The initial indicator of this disease is the unusual fall of bundle of hair strands on the pillow, as you wake up in the morning. Normally, in the progressive stages, people experience the development of 1-3 small patches of hair loss. However, in later stages, the hair root tends to become feeble and gets plucked out at the mere run of a hair brush. After some weeks, the bald patches start to become more evident as it increases in size and spreads to the entire scalp.
