How is Seborrheic Dermatitis Diagnosed?

This condition is characterized by yellow and greasy flakes over the scalp and faces which causes irritation in the respective areas. It is also referred to as dandruff in adults; this condition in babies is known as cradle-cap which occurs in the babies within first three months of their birth. This condition worsens in cold climate particularly during winters, but the cause is still unknown.

This can be diagnosed with a physical examination in most of the cases which can be easily found out by observing the reddish scales and flakes in the hair and the skin around. And in some cases, a trichology test has to be performed to analyze the severity of the inflammation. The Scalp becomes greasy and this condition is often chronic.

The flakes cause irritation mostly during winters when the production of oil in the skin is increased and this oil accumulates as a layer over the scalp. The flakes are obvious and there are many tests to identify these conditions.
