Is Seborrheic Dermatitis Curable?

Seborrheic Dermatitis can be cured by effectively following the treatment under medical supervision. The treatment needs to be continued for at least six to seven weeks so as to get better results. Use of styling gels and other hair styling products should be under the strict supervision of a medical professional. Shampoo should be used on a regular basis and should be continued but less frequently after the regression of this condition.

Use of mild shampoo regularly also helps in effectively preventing this condition to some extent. Shampoos or solutions which contain selenium, ketoconazole, or corticosteroids are generally prescribed by the physicians depending on the condition of the patient. The shampoos should be used to clean the hair from its roots in small areas on the scalp and should be massaged gently. The process can be repeated if desired, if the affected areas include face and chest, the medicated formula can be applied on the face and chest twice a day or as prescribed by the physician. Carrying out a lot of outdoor activities during summer Improves Seborrheic dermatitis, but enough care should be taken in the winter as the condition aggravates in cold climate and more flakes appear on the head.
