Can Ringworm Cause Hair Loss? |
Ringworm infection is a fungal skin disorder. This fungal organism manifests in form of bald patches on the scalp which spreads to the entire scalp, if not checked on time. On the scalp, this irritating organism first appears in form of a pimple. This pimple progressively enlarges and leaves scaly patches that result into temporary baldness. The fungus penetrates deep into the fibers of the hair present on the affected area. The hair strands further lose their strength and become brittle so much so that they start breaking at the mere brush of the finger tips. Further, the affected portions of the scalp become itchy, red and inflamed. |
