What is Nizoral Topical Treatment?

Nizoral topical treatment prevents the growth of fungus on your skin. The other name for it is ketoconazole topical. Some of the skin infections which can be treated by nizoral topical are athlete’s foot, ringworm, dry and flaky skin.

Nizoral topical is available in the form of cream, gel or as a shampoo and this shampoo can be used in the treatment of dandruff. If your skin has developed scales, then nizoral topical gel is used to treat it.  For using nizoral topical treatment, first clean and dry the affected area and apply a thin layer of cream to gel as prescribed by the doctor. Use the treatment for around 2-4 weeks for clearing the infection totally. Avoid applying bandages or dressing on the affected area of the skin. Children below the age of 12 years must not be prescribed nizoral topical treatment.

Due to varying skin sensitivity each person shows different response to nizoral topical treatment. If you find any of the following symptoms after usage of nizoral topical treatment then immediately visit the doctor: difficulty in breathing, loss of hair, frequent headache, loss of oil from the skin resulting in dry skin, development of itching on the skin, redness in the eye.
