Why Does Hair Growth Slow with Age? |
Hair loss is a common problem of the growing age. Both men and women after reaching their middle thirties start experiencing the loss of hair from the crown and temple regions of the head. At this stage, the growth of the hair nearly stops or becomes considerably slow. It starts by thinning of the hair followed by prominent hair loss which makes the bald scalp noticeable. The main cause of slow hair growth process is the excess release of the hormone called dihydrotestosterone, DTH. This hormone is predominantly responsible for making the texture of the hair follicles thin until they start shedding eventually. Other important cause of the inhibited hair growth is the lack of iron among the aged people. Stress factor especially after suffering from an illness is yet another factor that decides the growth of the hair. |
