What is Female Pattern Baldness?

Female pattern baldness is a typical hair loss problem which is generally caused due to aging, hormones, and genes. Generally a hair can grow about ½ inch in a month from its follicle. A typical hair grows for two to six years and then it falls out and immediately another hair starts growing in its place. Generally, baldness happens when there is no re-growth of hair in the place where an old hair falls out. The exact reason for the female pattern baldness cannot be stated, but it is related with aging, hormonal imbalance and genetic predisposition.

Generally the changes in the androgens level can affect hair production. After alters in menopause, some ladies find that their hair is thinned and then the facial hair is coarser. At the same time no new hair is produced, and the follicles remain alive, hinting the chance of new hair growth. Generally the Female patterned baldness is slight different from the male pattern baldness.  In female pattern baldness, hair thins everywhere, but the frontal hairline stays hairy. Other than that, some may also have hairs in the crown area. Thinning of hair and mild to moderate hair loss at the hairline or crown are the symptoms of female pattern baldness.
